All returning Department of Justice (DoJ) Prison Officer – Special Operations Group must meet basic mandatory requirements to be considered for re-engagement.
Are you eligible? To be eligible for re-engagement, you must meet the following criteria:
- You worked for DoJ as a Prison Officer – Special Operations Group for more than 12 months
- You passed your Prison Officer probationary period
- You are an Australian or New Zealand Citizen or Permanent Australian Resident
- You left the service less than 2 years ago
The Re-Engagement Process
Please complete the following questionnaire. The responses you provide will be collated and submitted to the appropriate Delegated Authority for consideration.
As part of the questionnaire, you will need to upload a current resume/CV and a formal letter requesting consideration of your re-engagement application.
Your letter should include the circumstances that led to you leaving, and why you want to return.

It is important to note that placement is dependent on vacancies and operational needs.
If your re-engagement application is approved, you will need to successfully complete some pre-employment assessments before you are eligible to commence. These may include psychometric testing, physical readiness testing and medical assessments.
The Corrective Services Training Academy will complete an assessment of your previous training and skills. The Academy will advise of any additional or refresher training that you will be required to complete.
Upon commencement, you will be paid at 1st Year Shift salary. You can progress a request to commence above the minimum salary via Recognition of Prior Experience. This request can be submitted upon commencement at the Academy.
